Music
Music doesn’t have any concrete figures or shapes, but it can be represented some visual images such
as paintings and videos. Genichiro Inokuma also painted some works that feel sounds.
In 《The Lion Dance》, whirling patterns of various sizes are associated with an arabesque design in the
cape used as a lion's body. Moreover, the vigorous touch of them also reminds us of the festival music
resounding lively and the dynamic move of the dance itself.
《Yagibushi》 means a Japanese folk song. In this work, which extends far back, there are various colors
and sizes of shapes painted as various sounds, such as a flute, a drum, a gong and a sonorous voice.
They are inextricably linked with each other in a canvas in harmony.
《Twist》 is different a little from the two above. It has clearly shapes placed regularly and painted by vivid
colors. We can remind of the people dancing who twisting their body rhythmically to the music with
eight-beat time.

カチナドール Guen "An Artist's toybox"

"Over the years, there are many things in a painter's home that become true friends, and some that live quietly with us almost as lovers. I have never tried to collect things just for the sake of collecting. Only those things that appealed to me in an artistic sense or that served to nourish my work did I want to have around me. After spending much of my past with these articles, mainly in Paris and America, I have found that they had grown very dear to me."
